Welcome to the website of the Ministry of Education where you can get all the latest news coming out of the Ministry and Department of Education.
In 2017, we promised to make our education system equitable so that high-quality education would be accessible to all young people. On Thursday, July 22, 2021, I announced the decision to establish parish primary schools as part of this process.
As a result of this decision, a number of primary school sites have been identified as our future parish primary schools and the remaining primary school sites will be discontinued as public primary schools.
These changes will be phased in over a 3 to 5-year period, beginning after the end of the 2022/23 school year and ensure that learning will be personalized, relevant and inspiring, taking place within modern, safe and healthy, well-resourced facilities that support the types of education we want to ensure for each and every young person.
In line with my commitment to transparency, we have published documents that share the decisions on proposal for parish primary schools, and the reasons for the decisions; an overview of the consultation process, and synopses and analyses of the consultation submissions; and all of the Parish Primary Consultation Submissions received during the consultation. These documents can be found below and on our Education Reform Page.
We will continue to engage and communicate throughout the implementation process so please do check back to our pages often to be a part of the transformation of the Bermuda Public School System!
